A Beutiful Day

A Beutiful Day

Headed to Trondenes to try out the Quay by Trondenes Historical Centre outside Harstad. The weather was beautiful. Sunshine for the first time in a month, where we have just slogged trough the wettest September in about 60 years. But today we woke up to clear skies, and frozen water puddles on the ground. So with the tide up around noon, I packed my car and headed for nearby Trondenes. It’s only a 3 minute drive. Set up my surf rod with herring and prawns [...]

The Quay

The Quay

,Made another trip to the old quay again. On setting up my old Ambassadeur 6500 CS Rocket had a problem. The spool, even with the brake adjustment knob taken completely off, the spool would not free spool properly. But decided to make a few casts, and it was soon it’s old self. Well…not quite. After a few casts I had a spectacular birds nest. I will come back to that as what happened next was that my fishing buddy pointed out that the surf rod [...]

Baby saithe

Baby saithe

Made another trip to the old warehouse quay. And improved the site a i bit by jamming a couple planks down by the edge. So no need to purchase an expensive rod rest here. Cod knows I could use the money. Well…I got my mind set for a new rod and reel for the sea trout, that is supposed to be abbundant in the area. Anyway, there was a fairly good blow yesterday. So I waited with assembling my lure caster. But the surf rod [...]

My first night session

My first night session

5fusdkwjb4 This will be my first season winter fishing from the shore. The place I reported about here is good, but in wintertime, with ice and snow it becomes very dangerous to fish alone. To easy to slip and slide into the sea. So I have been looking for a dock outside town to fish from, and I found it, just a kilometer from my favourite mark. A small dock sitting by an abandoned warehouse. Its only 10×10 meters, but plenty of space for me, [...]

Maiden casts with new rod and reel

Maiden casts with new rod and reel

Had a nice session with my new rod and reel yesterday afternoon. The tide was up around 6pm, so I hit my mark around 3pm, as around here, fishing is best the last 2 hours before high tide, and the first hour after. Rigged up my surf rod first with the new 7000iC3 reel with a pulley tackle using boiled prawns as bait. I simply tie them on using normal office type eleastic bands…works great. Anyway chucked out but was not happy with the distance. [...]
