Thousands of farmed salmon escapes fish farm….again.

Thousands of farmed salmon escapes fish farm….again.

Thousands of Salmon has escaped from a SinkaBerg-Hansen AS owned fish farm in Vikna and Nærøy municipality in Nord Trøndelag. The holding pen contained roughly 130 000 farmed salmon. It is unclear how many has escaped. But estimates in media reports vary between 13000 and 130 000.

In an attempt to stop as many escaped farm salmon to reach the nearby rivers, including the famous Namsen salmon river, the governor of Nord Trøndelag has opened up Vikna and Nærøy municipality for free fishing, including the use of nets. “Everybody should go out and fish” is the advice from the governors office.

My first night session

My first night session

5fusdkwjb4 This will be my first season winter fishing from the shore. The place I reported about here is good, but in wintertime, with ice and snow it becomes very dangerous to fish alone. To easy to slip and slide into the sea. So I have been looking for a dock outside town to fish from, and I found it, just a kilometer from my favourite mark. A small dock sitting by an abandoned warehouse. Its only 10×10 meters, but plenty of space for me, [...]

Maiden casts with new rod and reel

Maiden casts with new rod and reel

Had a nice session with my new rod and reel yesterday afternoon. The tide was up around 6pm, so I hit my mark around 3pm, as around here, fishing is best the last 2 hours before high tide, and the first hour after. Rigged up my surf rod first with the new 7000iC3 reel with a pulley tackle using boiled prawns as bait. I simply tie them on using normal office type eleastic bands…works great. Anyway chucked out but was not happy with the distance. [...]

The Abu Garcia Workhorse 2 Salmon/Bass rod

The Abu Garcia Workhorse 2 Salmon/Bass rod

I recently received this rod as an extra bonus when purchasing an Ambassadeur reel. The rod is 10′ long and classified for lure weights of 20 to 60 grams. At first I was rather sceptical of this rod as it was a free bee. Could there really be such thing as a free lunch? I was rather sceptical, after some bad purchases in the past. But lets have a look at what I got. The rod features a trigger. Only natural as it came with [...]

The ABU Garcia Ambassadeur 7000i C3 reel

The ABU Garcia Ambassadeur 7000i C3 reel

See also: Hunting down the Ambassadeur 7000 I was looking for a new and heavier reel for my shore bait fishing. Already owning a near vintage Ambassadeur 6500 CS Rocket, the choice of another Ambassadeur for my surf rod was pretty much self evident. And it would have to be a 7000 size. But the choice of models was mind blowing. And not made better when in every online discussion forum, the Chinese made reels from Ambassadeur was blown off as inferior to the “Swedish [...]
