Hi,

I got my first fishing rod around the age of six. A green ABU with an ABU Cardinal 33 reel. Then I was stuck in a boat with me dad in my grandfathers boat in Gullesfjorden and started hauling my first cod and coalfish.

And that’s what I did growing up. Well, in the summer anyway. Around the time I was 18 I upgraded my kit to a  9′ Tjøstheim 600N salmon rod and an Abu Garcia Black Max 5. Both are still in my inventory, and are still used. Abu made some quality gear back then.

At the same time I started fishing for trout in the local lakes using a floater and fly combo. But soon discovered light spinners. And got myself another Tjøstheim rod for that. Since then I have advanced to Ultralight fishing with a Shimano Beastmaster UL165 mated to an Okuma Force FE15 reel.

Then this summer, after years abroad with few fishing opportunities, I started shorefishing using lures with my old Tjøstheim 600N and Black Max 5. The interest for this type of fishing really took when a friend gifted me his 15 year old ABU Ambassadeur 6500 CS Rocket multiplier reel this summer.

Now I am the owner of a couple of more rods, including a full surf casting outfit, and and have taken up baitfishing from the shore. And need to learn more about that. As I plan to carry on, straight trough the arctic winter of Northern Norway.
